Thank you for your sudden and aggressive interest in Wakey!Wakey! We’re thrilled to hear that you’re enjoying the music so much more, now that it’s selling in stores nationwide. Unfortunately, a year ago when we first shared the same songs with you, you didn’t really hear much potential, so now it’s our turn to have to pass on you. I do promise however, to keep you in the loop as we continue to grow.
Sincerely,
Michael Grubbs and the Wakey!Wakey! team.
This is so great! The major labels have no vision for anything beyond teenage girls or boys with reality tv shows.
Some great music blogs use Tumblr as their platform, and we aggregate those in The Hype Machine. But plenty of people have awesome insights on music, even if they post about everything else on their tumblelog, too. So now, you can submit your music posts to the Hype Tumblr. We’re also following some cool people and reblogging their stuff, so you can see all the videos/articles/photos/links that make up our music experience right now. And just like on our main site, you can stream all the music on this page. Follow us, visit us, submit your posts, and check out some Tumblrs you might not be following yet. Welcome to our newest experiment!
My brother Garen (from Kill the Alarm) just posted this sweet new cover of Kanye West’s “Heartless” for backers of our Kickstarter Project to fund the next KTA record.
If you like this, head on over to the project page, make a pledge and download the full mp3 yo.
La Roux - Bulletproof
We’ve been waking up everyday this week to this video!
It’s fun to get up to, but as I put on my gray or black clothes, I so want to dress in colors like that. Have I been in Williamsburg too long?
I’ve seen this guy singing in the 14th st & 8th ave Subway Station a few different times this summer on my home from work and I always stop in my tracks to notice how great he sounds.
The last time I saw him playing on my way home, I picked up a CD from him. He was selling CDs with a “Pay what you think it’s worth sign”.
I threw in $5 and grabbed one. It took me a while to get around to listening to it, but I’m glad i finally did. I love it! (as you can tell from my last.fm stats!)
The album I bought is called “Say When” and I name of the band on it was “Tree Roots in the Basement”. It took me a while to find anything about them online as I guess they’ve shortened their name to “Tree Roots” and the label that put out the record seems defunct. It’s still hard to figure out what music they’ve released or what their are working on.
They just created a Facebook Page but it’s pretty empty right now (I refuse to visit myspam, err I mean myspace pages).
