Our first weekly series!
hyperallergic:

This week, Hyperallergic intern Janelle Grace, aka @RudyHuxtable, will begin contributing to the Hyperallergic LABS Tumblelog. She will curate a stream of images inspired by/related to the BP Oil Spill.
On April 20th, BP’s Deepwater Hoirzon oil rig blew up in the Gulf of Mexico and created the largest off-shore oil spill in US history. The tragedy and ecological disaster has since inspired a reawakening of environmental consciousness in America and the World.
This is the first in a series of weeklong explorations by Janelle and others on Hyperallergic LABS that will focus on a topic and explore it visually for seven days. We hope it will complement our regular posts while offering perspectives on a current topic. Feel free to submit your own image, text, quote, video or audio file for consideration or you can photo reply to any post.

Tonight at Hyperallergic HQ, William Powhida will be teaching us how to survive the Art World using the “Art of Sorcery”.
We could only let in a few lucky souls, but if you are near a computer, you can watch the live video stream and participate in the discussion at Hot Potato.

Last week was the six month anniversary of the launch of Hyperallergic and we’re celebrating with a small office party at Hyperallergic HQ in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Friday at 7pm.
Starting next month we will begin hosting events in the space, including screenings, lectures, panels, roundtables, and discussions, but to kick things off we invite you to join us at the new space for a party that will get the ball rolling.
Come by and meet Hyperallergic contributors and friends! Tour the offices (ok, it’s one big loft) and meet our officemate Paddy Johnson of Art Fag City, who promises to make balloon animals during the party!
We look forward to seeing you there!
Please RSVP, as space is limited.

New Museum’s Richard Flood Equates Bloggers with Prairie Dogs
This story from Hyperallergic has been all over the art internet this week.
Seems that a few people in the art world are apparently still learning about blogs (and something called the internet). Well, the team at Hyperallergic, along with all our prairie dog friends, will be doing our best to get them up to speed quickly.
